The Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society, Inc., is a nonprofit 501(c)3 educational organization incorporated under the laws of the state of Georgia. Its purpose is to encourage and engage in research and study of the history and operations of the Central of Georgia Railway and their predecessors, successors and affiliates; to publish and disseminate information on these topics; to encourage and engage in the collection, cataloging, restoration, maintenance, and display of materials and artifacts relating to these railroads; to promote knowledge and understanding of these railroads among Society members, publishers, the model railroad industry, and the general public; and to promote a mutually beneficial relationship among its members.
The Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society was founded by Bill Pippin, who in late 1986 began organizing a small informal group of people who shared a common interest in preserving the heritage of the Central of Georgia Railway. By the summer of 1987, Vol. 1, No. 1 of The Right Way had been published. Unfortunately, due to an accident, Bill was unable to continue further development of the Society.
In 1997, the Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society was reorganized with new leadership. In early 1998, that new organization published Vol. 2, No. 1 of The Right Way, and has continued quarterly publication since then.
