Society Presents Program at Bloomingdale History Museum

Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society President Allen Tuten presented a program at the Bloomingdale History Museum in Bloomingdale, Ga. (west of Savannah) on Sunday, October 12, 2014.

The program, entitled “The Central of Georgia Railway and Related Lines: Trackage, Facilities, and Industries in Savannah, Ga.,” covered the history of the CofGa and its impact on the Savannah area. A number of vintage photographs and maps from the Society’s collection were used, showing the various trackage, facilities, and industries on both the Central of Georgia and the Savannah & Atlanta Railway in Savannah.

Following the presentation, several attendees took an optional walking tour on the Bloomingdale Rail Trail to the site of the CofGa station. There were approximately 30 people in attendance.

The Society’s New Website

The Central of Georgia Railway Historical Society is pleased to welcome you to our new website!

With the help of web designer Kristy Sullivan, we’ve undertaken a total redesign of our website, including  many “behind the scenes” improvements that will allow us to keep the site updated and, hopefully, provide more interesting content than before! Our new site features bold graphics and will include more photographs and information than our previous site.

Although much of the content from our old site has been transferred, we still have work to do. Future plans include the addition of a CofGa forum and online photo galleries.

Our online store has also been updated, allowing visitors to shop for select Society merchandise and to join the Society (or renew their membership).

We encourage visitors to explore the pages accessible from the menus at the top of this page. Also, our new online store can be reached by clicking on “Store.”

If there’s something you’d like to see added to the site, you can e-mail us here.
